Right to Education in India

75 years ago, when India achieved her precious right to self-govern, right to life and personal liberty had given equal importance, like the other agendas, which was incorporated into The Indian Constitution on 26 January 1950. In 2002, under this fundamental right a constitutional amendment (86th) inserted Article21A in the Indian Constitution which states: “The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of six to fourteen years in such a manner as the State, may by law determine.” The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, represents the consequential legislation envisaged under Article 21-A, means that every child has a right to full time elementary education of satisfactory and equitable quality in a formal school which satisfies certain essential norms and standards. Today, India is one among 135 countries where education is a fundamental right of every child, but still she needs to achieve more. Swami Vivekananda once said, "education is the manifestation of the perfection already in men (and women)", by that philosophy #education is the soul of our nation that resonates with every heartbeat of it's citizens.
